Last week, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto Women’s Philanthropy partnered with us for an incredible Women’s Networking Evening. Thank you to the 14 women from the Jewish community and the 13 JIAS newcomer clients for attending the event, which provides our clients with career advice and industry contacts. One client shared her comments from the evening:

"I'm still excited from the JIAS/UJA Women to Women Networking Evening that you did yesterday. This evening not only expanded my networking and gave me further ideas that will help me find a job, but also improve my self-confidant, empowered me and made me believe that I can succeed also in Canada, although I'm a newcomer, and with hard work the sky can be the limit. But..more than ever, it made me feel so proud to be a Jewish!

"The acknowledge that there is a huge, warm, welcoming, helpful, strong and quality Jewish community behind you that will help you no matter what you need, that will be there for you, that will give you a hand and help you wherever you are and wants to see you succeed, it is something that is bigger than I thought. It is something unique and unbelievable that made me feel so proud to know that I belong to the Jewish people and community and strengthen my identity as a Jewish.

"Thank you and to all of the amazing women that came yesterday and all the amazing people in JIAS and UJA that supporting us all the way. We are not taking it for granted!”

Connecting People and Community

JIAS (Jewish Immigration Aid Services) Toronto is a government and community funded not-for-profit organization, which helps 8,000 immigrants each year to find a place in our community.

With locations in both Toronto and York Region, we reach out to welcome and provide services to all newcomer communities in the languages they speak and in close proximity to where they live.

We are experienced and experts in all matters pertaining to immigration, settlement and integration.

Our Mission

We welcome, support, and integrate new immigrants today to build a strong Canada and a strong Jewish community of tomorrow.

We do this by:

  • Providing a comprehensive welcome and a range of settlement services
  • Ensuring opportunities for newcomers to reach their employment potential and economic self-reliance.
  • Supporting newcomers to achieve social integration.

Our Vision

We are both a gateway and a bridge to the Jewish community and the GTA. We see integration as a two-way process in which newcomers and the host community come together to build a strong, inclusive society. It takes a whole community to build one and we welcome your participation in our work.
